SEB is delighted to be offering the range of Scott Off Road Ebikes. The Shimano E8000 mid drive motor and new modular battery design provides a super stiff frame. Come in and test ride now the Scott range at our Thornleigh store.
The SCOTT E-Contessa Spark 710 applies proven electric assist technology to a capable offroad package. Powered by the Shimano STEPS drive system, and in unison with our patented TwinLoc technology, allowing for three travel settings on the FOX 34 Float fork and Custon FOX Nude shock, the E-Contessa Spark 710 brings another element to the mountains. Trails will never look the same.
Built on the popular Genius 150mm travel platform and geometry, Scott have redefined this bike for 2018 with integral battery and Shimano's eMTB specific drive.
When combined with Scott's exclusive TwinLoc system this means for one very well equipped 720 Plus 2018 trail eBike!
The new Scott Genius offer a tighter trail geometry and lower centre of gravity due to the new Shimano battery integration.
Scott have fitted a Custom X-Fusion Nude rear shock to the E-Genius 720 which offers 3 modes of lockout including Scott's special 'traction control' setting perfect for any eBike.
The X-Fusion shock also has full air adjust-ability and rebound damping controls. Inverted in the frame for optimum traction and minimal 'Pedal Bobbing'.
The E-Genius 2018 electric bike range are 27.5+ wheeled as standard. But Scott have built the bike to handle 29" wheels also. Simply just swap the wheels out and flip the chip in the rear shock mount which alters the BB height depending on which wheel you insert. You can run up to 2.8" tyres on 27.5+ wheels or up to 2.6" on 29'er wheels.
Scott has built the wheels for the Genius 720 on Shimano boost, through axle hubs for ultimate stiffness and control. Combine this with a set of Syncros 30mm wide tubeless ready rims, keeps things rolling fast.
The wider 2.8" offering decent grip levels for cornering on the front wheel, while maintaining a fast rolling rear to keep you tight through the trails. Don't forget these are extra wide and suck up a lot more of the bumps.
The E-Genius 720 2018 eBike is offered up with a combination of Maxxis Minion front and rear specific tyres. Due to the wider tyre and dual compound construction, these eBike tyres offer superior levels of grip over standard width tyres without compromising rolling resistance.
The X-HORIZON design reduces chain slap and the shifting force offering a smooth reliable setup.
Scott also equip the Genius 710 with a remote dropper post with internal cable routing for stealth looks.
The saddle can be raised and lowered by the flick of a switch on the handlebars for all trail ascending and descending.
For the front and rear shock, the lever is normally located on the shock / fork itself, meaning the rider has to bend down whilst riding to make the adjustment.
Scott have created an exclusive remote TwinLoc lever design for the E-Genius, mounted up on the handlebars. Both front forks & rear shock are adjusted at the same time via 3 modes.
Genius Virtual 4Link Design
Our suspension kinematic brings perfect balance and control to the Genius platform. Using our Virtual Four Link design, we have honed our suspension feel, pedaling and braking response to work with maximum efficiency and in harmony with our TwinLoc Suspension System. Our kinematic suspension curve gives supple small bump sensitivity and therefore exceptional traction characteristics, perfect support in the mid-stroke and a controlled deep stroke for predictable and comfortable bottom outs. Specific pivot placements ensures efficient pedaling that drives the bike forwards like a startled greyhound and neutral braking that strikes a perfect balance between rider comfort and control, chassis stability and rear wheel traction. From the XC racer, to the downhill enthusiast, the new Genius kinematic brings improvements and advantages in all areas and gives a solid fundamental basis for a bike for all riders and all conditions.
TwinLoc Suspension System
With TwinLoc, a rider can effectively control the complete frame, fork, and shock as a system. Why does this matter? A bike with 150mm of suspension travel, correctly set up, has more sag than a bike with 130mm. It's that extra travel that makes it more fun to ride and more capable on the descents, but the greater sag has an oversized effect on the bike's geometry and climbing performance. That's where TwinLoc matters.
TwinLoc helps manage the sag effect in several ways. Whereas most systems only increase low-speed compression in an effort to gain pedaling efficiency, TwinLoc allows us to not only change compression damping, but also to change the spring curve, dynamically altering the geometry of the bike. In Trail mode, the shock is not only firmer, but it has dynamically less travel. The bike sits higher, maintains a steep seat angle for those climbs, and becomes more agile. We also offer a third, full lockout mode for going up in the most efficient manner possible. These unique settings optimize climbing geometry, even on longer travel bikes. We can eliminate the "long travel effect" that can rob your pedaling efficiency, but we're not robbing you of the full-fun, 150mm travel when you point it downhill. From a race setting, to a lunch ride, to an after work trail shred, being able to switch from mode to mode depending on a trails profile at the push of a lever is paramount to riding faster and having a damned good time.
The SHIMANO STEPS E8000 delivers a real MTB experience and gives you the push when you really need it ensuring advanced and intuitive operation.
Power is transmitted through a dedicated chainring in both 34T and 38T options, which can be used with an optional chain retention device. With an output torque of 70Nm, the powerful SHIMANO STEPS MTB motor is designed to make every moment of every ride fun.
All three support modes will assist until 25km/H.
BOOST - Full support for maximum boost and uncompromised climbing
TRAIL - Gradual support for encouraging sportive riding
ECO - Riding support while enabling maximum range
WALK ASSIST - As additional mode, walk assist can be easily enabled with the assist switch
Controlled through a sleek bar-mounted cycle computer and a firebolt switch unit for assistance control. Communicating via Bluetooth with the E-Tube software platform which allows you to change settings and customize the set-up via computer, tablet or smartphone.
To meet MTB specific needs, the E-8000 series was designed with all day performance in mind. The capacity of the Ion-Lithium battery has been increased to 500WH and can now be charged up to 80% in only 2.5 hours. The new design features a lower profile specifically for mountain bikes which improves both impact and vibration resistance. The battery pack offers 36V of nominal voltage and a durability of more than 1000 cycles.
The shift switch system has been redesigned specifically for mountain bikes. Thanks to ergonomic design improvements, it is now better integrated and offers a similar feel as that of a gear shifter. You can switch between 3 assist modes: ECO, TRAIL, and BOOST. Thanks to a new firmware update for MY18, you can connect your bike and your phone by Bluetooth with the E-TUBE app, to customize the % of assist delivered in TRAIL and BOOST modes.
The new color display comes in a compact size and is therefore nicely integrated on the handlebar. While the display features full connectivity with Shimano Di2 components it also allows for individual settings for the information shown.
The E-8000 series drive unit has been redesigned. The compact design of the drive unit allows for shorter chain stays and more tire clearance. These features, together with the light weight of the battery pack (below 3.2kg) and a new stiff and lightweight BB axle with Hollowtech-II technology (Q-factor 177mm), improve handling and ride feel substantially. The drive unit achieves a maximum power output of 70Nm and 250W
