Boundary Pushing E-Bike
The new e-Vault shares the same sophisticated, proprietary carbon fiber construction and velvet smooth ride qualities as our acclaimed Vault. It offers surefooted yet intuitively responsive handling, provides clearance for the widest tires available, and features the ride-smoothing comfort of our patent pending ISO-FLEX damping technology. Derived from this highly versatile, multi-terrain all-star, the e-Vault enhances your ride experience with the seamless incorporation of a Fazua motor and battery module. Built so cleanly into the chassis as to be invisible, this motor-assist ushers in a whole new way of riding; augmenting your power, extending your range, expanding your horizons.

Invisible Strength
Lightweight & discreet, the Fazua motor/battery unit is the stealth bomber of electric-assist technology. It features a compact and incredibly clean execution, making it a perfect pairing to fit unobtrusively into the redesigned chassis. Battery and motor combined are incredibly lightweight, and the drive unit utilizes an angular contact gearbox that completely decouples from the bottom bracket when not engaged. This is hugely important – most e-assist motors remain engaged, rendering pedaling without assist akin to plowing through quicksand. With the e-Vault, you get to power up your riding when you need, without any drawbacks when pedaling just by muscle alone.

Which size bike should I purchase?

To ensure the best sizing, we recommend that you visit us to get a professional fit and refer to our geometry chart to check your measurements. However, we can provide a rough guideline:

X-Small: 5'0" – 5’4”

Small: 5'4" – 5’8”

Medium: 5'8” – 6’

Large: 6’-6’2”

X-Large: 6'2” – 6’6”

How fast can I go on the E-Vault?

The E-Vault’s battery no longer assists once the rider reaches 25 kms per hour—at that point, it’s like you’re riding a regular bike. The E-Vault is a Class 3 ebikes. As with any bicycle, your downhill speed is a function of your riding skill, comfort level, and terrain or road conditions.

How do I remove the battery from the drive unit for charging?

Battery removal or battery swaps are very efficient with the Evation motor system. We’ve included simple instructions showing how to remove the battery in your E-Vault’s owner’s manual, and we will also show you in-store

How long does it take to recharge the battery?

It can take up to 3.5 hours to recharge the battery from being completely dead. In our experience, a battery with some charge tends to charge faster.

How many miles can I get out of each battery charge?

Many variables impact the total riding distance per battery charge, including but not limited to rider and gear weight, tire pressure, how much time is spent in each riding mode (Breeze, River or Rocket), wind or weather, elevation, and tire profile. During in-house testing we repeatedly were able to ride 70-80 kms on mixed surfaces with almost 3000 feet of climbing on one battery charge.

Can you hack the Fazua drive unit and make the E-Vault exceed 25 kms per hour?

Generally, no. We have heard of hacks that move or remove the top speed limitations, or artificially change the wheel size to gain more top speed assist. However, these hacks generally result in a loss of torque, effectively removing performance (and fun) from the system under the conditions and speeds you ride most. If you are already over 25 kms per hour, most likely you are flying downhill and don’t need more assist. If you climb up hill at speeds exceeding 25 kms per hour, congratulations! You are one incredibly fit individual, and you also don’t need additional assist. Additionally, leaving your drive unit in its original stock settings means your warranty will stay intact. The E-Vault was not designed or tested to be run with a setting that is more powerful and/or changes or removes the top speed limits for the battery assist. Changes in the stock system will void the warranty, not just of the system, but of your entire bike.

What happens if my drive unit breaks—am I stranded on the road?

In the unlikely event of a drive unit malfunction, your E-Vault is still absolutely ride-worthy. True, the E-Vault weighs more than its non-motorized siblings. Due to the sleek, minimalist E-Vault frame design, you’ll feel that additional weight only slightly with the drive unit turned off (there’s no getting around physics), but it’s still fun to ride with the drive unit turned off. The gearbox completely decouples for natural, drag-free, non-assist pedaling when the motor is not running.

What kind of maintenance do I have to do on the drive unit and how often?

Beyond occasional firmware updates, there is no maintenance required on the drive unit. The clean environment that keeps the electronics happy also keeps the gears and bearings running smoothly for years. The chainring is easily removable so that it can be replaced after regular drive train wear. Please note that Fazua strongly advises against pressure washing, as high pressure washing can create problems with the drive unit, including connectivity problems. For additional information regarding troubleshooting drive train creaking noises or connectivity problems, please refer to your E-Vault Owner’s Manual.

What is ISO FLEX?

ISO FLEX is a Pivot designed, Patent Pending system that isolates the seatpost from the frame for extraordinary comfort while maintaining elite level frame stiffness. The lightweight rubber insert comes in two sizes: 27.2mm and 30.9mm allowing the rider to use any seatpost on the market including dropper posts with class-leading comfort. 27.2mm is included with the frame and the 30.9mm size is available for purchase.

How do I change the ISO FLEX insert?

Removing the ISO FLEX insert is a simple process that only takes a few minutes. Start by removing the seatpost and seat collar. Next, using a Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket tool (we recommend the genuine Shimano TL-FC32 Bottom Bracket Tool), unscrew the lock ring counterclockwise and remove the lock ring and washer from the frame. Reinstall the seat collar, seatpost, and tighten the collar bolt. Gently rock the saddle back and forth while pulling up until the ISO FLEX insert assembly slides out of the frame. Loosen the collar and remove the insert from the seatpost. To reinstall, lightly grease the outside of the insert and slide it into the frame. Reinstall the washer and lock ring by turning it clockwise by hand until it bottoms out on the insert. Then, using the TL-FC32 Bottom Bracket Tool, snug down the lockring, reinstall the seat collar, insert the seatpost to your desired height and tighten the collar bolt to 5 Nm. If there is any play in the system DO NOT overtighten. You will need to install 1 of the washers included with the ISO FLEX kit between the lock ring and the insert. Start with the smallest washer and then change to thicker ones as needed until the play is eliminated.

What size seat clamp does the E-Vault use?

The E-Vault frame uses a proprietary seatpost clamp designed to work with the ISO FLEX system. Standard seat collars will not work.

Can I use a dropper post with this frame?

Yes, the E-Vault is designed for stealth internal dropper seatpost routing and works with any 27.2mm or 30.9mm dropper seatpost.

Can I use a power meter on the E-Vault?

The Fazua system provides power meter or cadence information via Bluetooth to most bike computers, including Garmin and Wahoo. Additionally, through the Fazua Rider App you can access a full range of sensor- and system-generated data, including but not limited to speedometer, cadence, rider power, and rider torque. For more information about the Fazua Rider App and other digital tools, see the Fazua website: https://fazua.com/en/drive-system/software/mobile-apps/

Is the E-Vault frame compatible with suspension forks?

Yes, the E-Vault frame is compatible with the suspension gravel forks currently on the market such as the Fox 32 Stepcast AX or Lauf Grit and Grit SL models. Alternatively, we have had excellent results using the Redshift ShockStop suspension stem.

What is the fork offset on the E-Vault?

The fork offset on the E-Vault is 45mm.

What is the Q factor of the Praxis Carbon cranks on the Fazua drive unit used on the E-Vault?

The Praxis Carbon cranks used on the E-Vault have a 163mm q-factor

What hub/wheel spacing, and axle thread pitch does the E-Vault use?

The E-Vault features 12x142mm thru axle spacing in the rear and 12X100mm thru axle spacing in the front. Both use 1.5 thread pitch thru axles.

What brakes does the E-Vault use?

The Vault is a disc brake only bike and can be used with any road specific hydraulic or mechanical disc brake on the market that is compatible with Shimano’s flat mount standard.

What size rotors will work on my E-Vault?

The Vault will work with 140-160mm rotors on the front and rear.

What type of rear brake adapter do I need?

On the front, Shimano’s flat mount brakes come with a plate that is reversible for either a 140mm or 160mm rotor. No additional brake adapter is required. The rear also uses Shimano’s new direct mount standard. With the new Shimano direct mount rear caliper and a 140mm rear rotor, there is no adaptor required. With the new Shimano direct mount rear caliper and a 160mm rear rotor, the correct adaptor is available from Shimano. The rear mount is 30mm thick and designed to use mounting bolts that are 37mm long with SRAM and 43.2mm long for Shimano flat mount brakes. The E-Vault uses 160mm rotors front and rear.

What front derailleur does the E-Vault use?

The E-Vault uses a braze-on style Di2 front derailleur. The E Vault is not compatible with mechanical shifting systems. You cannot use a SRAM AXS Wireless system with a front derailleur as SRAM does not certify their front shifting systems for use in E-bike applications. Even if you chose to ignore SRAM’s warnings, rear tire size choices are limited due to the rearward location of the battery on SRAM front derailleur using up tire clearance space.

What headset do I need for the E-Vault?

For the Pivot E-Vault, we use an integrated style headset. The upper bearing measures 1-1/8" with 45°/45° ACB

How is the Di2 system powered?

The Shimano Di2 system is powered by a separate battery in the seat tube. This battery is not intended to be removed for charging, and can be charged using a Shimano Di2 charging cord from the end of the handlebar on the right (drive side) of the bike. For additional information regarding Di2 system operation and maintenance, please refer to the Shimano Di2 operating manual. To learn more about customizable settings off the bike, visit the Shimano E-Tube project online at https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/e-tube/project.html

How much does it weigh?

The E-Vault complete bike in medium, Di2 GRX build with carbon wheels weighs 29.9 lbs (13.56 Kg.). Pivot bicycles are among the lightest available, but the weight is only one of many factors that make a great bicycle. Other aspects such as frame stiffness, strength, durability, and ride quality are just as important as weight to our engineers when designing our Hollow Core Carbon frames. Instead of comparing grams online, we suggest you visit us and see our attention to detail, smart, high value spec, and class leading features.
