C.I.S - Cockpit Integration Solution
We specially developed the C.I.S. design to provide a clean and aerodynamic cockpit while ensuring constantly seamless shifting and braking. As a result, C.I.S. provides the first functioning stem with internal cable routing for mechanical shifting.
Thanks to the C.I.S. technology all cables run integrated via the stem and headset into the frame.
All cables run from the handlebar into the stem and through the headset into the frame. For optimum shifting and braking quality, we have chosen a bending radius that allows smooth-running cables. Only this large bending radius permanently prevents shifting problems due to attrition. As a result, C.I.S. provides the first functioning stem with internal cable routing for mechanical shifting.
- Easy adjustable handlebar and brake lever position
- Rideable with no spacers for super low front end
- Mechanical shifting and dropper remote possible
MAKES YOUR COCKPIT AERODYNAMIC AND AESTHETIC
The stem offers space for up to six cables. Thanks to a mounting point on the stem you can easily install a perfectly matching front light. With our split spacer system, you can change the height of your stem without big effort.
F.O.LD
Focus Optimized Linkage Design
The precise functioning of the rear suspension is crucial for the design of a full suspension bike. It has a significant impact on the ride characteristics of the bike and is its core component. With its proprietary F.O.L.D. (FOCUS OPTIMIZED LINKAGE DESIGN) kinematics, FOCUS has developed and patented a rear triangle system that offers several advantages and can be used for all full-suspension FOCUS mountain bikes; Enduro, All-Mountain, Trail or Cross Country – it doesn’t matter.
TWO PHASE KINEMATICS
The design of F.O.L.D. is such that the suspension travel is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the characteristic curve of the rear triangle is degressive: the suspension responds extremely sensitively and absorbs even the smallest of bumps and dips, which produces the noticeable extra traction, compared to other rear triangle systems, that is typical of our F.O.L.D. system.
In the second phase, the characteristic curve is progressive in order to offer sufficient control even with stronger impacts, as well as prevent rim damage. Thanks to F.O.L.D., the suspension travel of the rear triangle feels longer than it is and ensures the rider has full control in any riding situation.
At FOCUS, we also use shocks that are specially tailored to the wheel, in order to tease the ultimate in performance from our bikes.

EMTB MODE
There are four levels of varying support available: Eco, Tour, eMTB and Turbo. The eMTB mode takes on a special function here: it switches between Tour and Turbo. With a maximum torque of 85 Nm, the motor dynamically supports the rider at anything from 120% to 300%. The graduated motor support automatically adapts to the rider’s riding style depending on the pressure being exerted on the pedals. This improves off-road riding and makes steep ascents easier, in particular.
I want a different shock. What do I need to take into account?
Our advice is to use the specced shock because we optimised it for the F.O.L.D. chassis and the bike's geometry. As there are many shock models in the market, we cannot guarantee that another will one will work.
Can I add a dropper post with internal routing?
Our FOCUS SAM² comes with a dropper post with internal routing.
Can I change between 1by and 2by? What is 1by and 2by?
1by and 2by means that the bike is either equipped with two or only one chainring in the front. As the Bosch mid motor just allows one chainring, our SAM² is 1by only and it is not possible to change to 2by.
Does the SAM² have a chain stay protector?
Yes, it comes mounted to the bike. If it is damaged or worn out, you can exchange it.
What to do, if I change from 29" to 27,5" or the other way around?
The wheel change is possible with our FLIP CHIP. It has a low and a high position and likethat changes the positioning of the wheel in the frame. You can even ride a drifter version with a 29" front and 27.5" rear wheel. For an exchange of the wheels, it is necessary to shorten the chain and use a different postmount adapter for the brakes.
Can I attach a bike trailer?
As there is no test process yet, we can not give another statement than no right now. We are working on it.
How do I get my battery out?
You need your key for the battery lock. Open it and then you can easily take out the battery. The cover is attached to the battery and cannot be removed from the battery. Be careful when taking it out and don't drop it.
Can I change the battery to a smaller/ larger battery?
As the SAM² has already the biggest battery that Bosch offers, you cannot get more capacity. For smaller batteries a different mount is needed within the frame. That is why you cannot use a smaller one.
How far can I ride with the SAM²?
There is no definite answer to that. Different factors have an impact on your range: Your weight, your luggage, the terrain you ride, which support mode you prefer and and even the temperature influence how long your battery will last. There is a range assistant by Bosch that can give you an idea:Bosch range assistant Or you check out different scenarios here: Bosch Performance CX
Can I add a second battery?
No, that is not possible.
Can I tune my e-bike?
No, that's not possible and even if it would, we do not recommend it.
What is the maximum rotor dimension?
You can use a maximum rotor dimension of 220 mm.
What is the maximum system weight?
The total weight limit is 120 kg. It includes the full system weight of bike, rider and all equipment.
