ALTITUDE POWERPLAY ALLOY EMTB: PUSH NEW BOUNDARIES

Rocky Mountain took the Altitude's legendary handling and ride quality and integrated the most powerful drive system on the market and bam: one of the most powerful, most capable e-mountain bikes ever. With v1 it impressed with its gorgeous, clean look and a ride feel that was as good as a non-motorized mountain bike and it has only gotten better.

Rocky Mountain designed their own drive system, the Dyname 3.0, so they could retain the geometry and great handling characteristics of their non-motorized models rather than having to design a frame around an off-the-shelf drive system. It was worth the wait.  The Altitude Powerplay is a true no-compromise e-mountain bike.

Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay C50 eMTB

The riding position on the Instinct BC Edition models adopts the more aggressive sport / downhill positioning of the Altitude models, yet retains the 29" wheels. It is a terrific handling ebike for downhill and technical trails and the responsiveness and acceleration of the Dyname 3.0 motor just amplifies the experience.

The Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay Alloy 70 BC Edition model comes well equipped with the hard-wearing and fast-shifting Shimano SLX gearing, Race Face dropper seatpost, 160mm dual suspension via Fox 36 EMTB Float EVOL Grip Performance forks and Fox Float DPX2 Performance in the rear. Rocky Mountain's 4-bar Smoothlink Suspension optimises performance of the suspension for that legendary Rocky Mountain ride feel.

THE DYNAME 3.0 DRIVE SYSTEM. THE MOST POWERFUL MID-DRIVE AVAILABLE.

Ride more, faster, further

While developing the first-ever Rocky Mountain eMTB, they refused to be held hostage by existing drive designs. They built the drive to fit the bike, not the other way around. For ten years, their engineers dreamed, created, tested and meticulously improved upon Dyname until they got it right. The Dyname drive is compact, powerful, and smooth. It facilitates pure, unbridled design freedom, as evidenced by the seamless integration of the RIDE-9 adjustment system.

The DRIVE SYSTEM

Lower RPM

Dyname spins at 1200 RPM (1/4 the competition's speed). Less whine. More efficiency.

Tuned to the key of human

Specifically designed to an MTB-friendly cadence and real world singletrack riding. No spinning out.

Higher torque

Virtual quads kick in when you need them and stand down when you don't.

A motor's intuition

Seamless power modulation between drive and human. Dyname reads your rhythm and responds to your ride.

Proprietary design

Three patents. In-house customization. Limitless design freedom.

Better BB

The bottom bracket is part of the bike, not the drive. No creaking, less wear, and local shops can service it. We love local shops.

Step on it

When you step on the pedals, the Dyname 3.0 drive delivers immediately. Competitive systems can exhibit lag, apply power too abruptly (causing wheel spin or loss of control), and generally introduce odd sensations to riding. With Powerplay, beginning on a hill is easier than ever. Getting up to speed is simple. Dyname's electro-mechanical torque sensor measures chain tension through movement of a magnetic field, providing instant input to the brain of the drive. Less lag. More power.

Dyname needs to crunch numbers quickly, and lend support to the rider even more rapidly. When the chain moves, Dyname reacts instantaneously. How? Every time the chain straightens out, a magnetic field sensor measures the chain position. This sensor measures 1000 times per second. This extreme sensitivity helps maintain traction on greasy trails, allows for subtle torque modulation on complex terrain, and produces a natural-feeling power output.

Ahead of the curve

The Dyname 3.0 Drive features class-leading power, and torque measuring in at a 108Nm*. This means you can crush steeper hill climbs faster, and accelerate like a speed demon. No strange pedalling sensations. Modulation so smooth you won’t even notice the RPMs kicked in.

Optional Overtime extra battery pack.

The Overtimepack allows you to ride your Powerplay farther than ever before, putting more time in on the trail before needing a charge.

The Overtimepack is a range extender for our Powerplay lineup that offers an additional 330 Wh of battery capacity. When combined with our massive 672 Wh Powerplay battery, you have over 1000 Wh to drain before it's time to rest. It's about more saddle time, more trail time, and more of the good times.

Drain the additional Overtimepack first, then your Powerplay battery

The Overtimepack drains its full 330Wh capacity before impacting the 672Wh battery in your Powerplay.

Your iWoc remote will read as fully charged until you begin to work your way through the main 672Wh battery of the bike. As you use up the Overtimepack battery, the LED indicator that reads, "RIDE MORE, FASTER, FURTHER", will begin turning off. Once you tap into your Powerplay battery, the iWoc remote will indicate the remaining battery capacity.

Top up your Powerplay battery

If the 672Wh battery in your Powerplay is empty, the Overtimepack will charge your battery to nearly 50% in a little over 2 hours. Just plug it into the bike and let it transfer the battery power into your bike.

Using the standard Powerplay 5A charger, you can charge the Overtimepack in a little over 2 hours. Do not use any chargers other than the standard Powerplay 5A charger, as they will damage the Overtimepack battery.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN POWERPLAY EMTB. CLIMBING AIN'T DEAD.

RIDE-9 adjustment system

The RIDE-9 adjustment system allows riders to quickly fine-tune their geometry and suspension with a pair of Allen keys. Nine configurations are possible thanks to two interlocking chips.

Suspension and geometry setup are complex art forms with huge variations in rider style, preference, terrain, and ability. We do recommend the use of professional services, but we also believe that learning to dial in your own bike is the best way to fully understand its performance.

Adjust your RIDE-9 position for geometry before considering suspension effects, or variables like air pressure and shock compression. Make gradual, incremental changes, take notes, and be methodical. Don’t adjust in a hurry before a big ride. Take your time and enjoy the process.
