The all new Dillenger Arc Feather is the newest addition to SEB's conversion kits. This lightweight, bare-bones conversion kit is powered by a powerful 250W front hub motor. The Samsung cell battery and motor controller are hidden away in a custom made satchel that attaches to the handlebars of your regular bicycle. A very stylish, easy to use conversion kit that will delight with impressive performance in such a lightweight, compact layout.
Samsung 29E
There's not a large battery for this kit (to keep it compact and light) however the cells used are top notch. The Samsung 29E cell is not a cheap option, but it does deliver both high discharge and high capacity. For a small battery pack, high discharge characteristics are favorable as there is an increased load on fewer cells at maximum power. The same goes with capacity, a small pack with higher capacity cells will compete in range with a medium pack of lower capacity cells.
36V performance
When moving to a small battery pack, some companies take the voltage down to 24V. Technically speaking, that's not the best solution. As you decrease voltage, the current draw must also increase to get the same overall performance. Normally 250W controllers will be limited to 15A, regardless of the voltage. So if you cheap out on the number of cells in series to give more Amp-hours, you're going to sacrifice performance. At 36V, the Arc Feather kit has the same power as the higher prices Arc Street kit.
Light weight
The weight of something you carry up high on the handlebars can change the way your bike feels to ride. The battery and controller satchel used on the Arc Feather kit is only 2kg which is similary in weight to a decent waterbottle. This low weight is crucial to the handlebar mount design. The weight of the motor wheel is only 3.9kg so the weight you will add to the bike is not a great deal at all. In fact, this is by far the lightest conversion kit we have ever seen.
